Chamaerops humilis

Chamaerops humilis, commonly known as the Mediterranean fan palm or dwarf fan palm, is a small palm tree that is native to the Mediterranean region of Europe and North Africa. It is a popular ornamental plant and is prized for its hardiness and versatility in landscaping. The plant typically grows to a height of 2-5 meters (6-16 feet) tall and has multiple stems that form a dense clump. The stems are covered with a fibrous, brownish-gray bark and are topped with fan-shaped leaves that are about 1 meter (3 feet) in diameter. The leaves are divided into numerous segments that give them a feathery appearance. The Mediterranean fan palm is a slow-growing plant and can take several years to reach its full size. It prefers full sun to partial shade and is tolerant of a wide range of soil types, although it prefers well-draining soil. The plant is also drought-tolerant and can survive in hot, dry conditions. With its attractive foliage and hardiness, the Mediterranean fan palm is a popular choice for landscaping in Mediterranean climates and other warm, dry regions.
